Job Placement
Job Placement is a program designated to help obtain jobs for the developmentally disabled adults and individuals with mental illness and provide training for someone with a disability. People with developmental disabilities face new challenges every day and are willing to work harder to overcome them. The Employment Programs are based on the idea that, in creating a successful job match, a person with a disability can do the job that he or she was hired to do. The Employment Specialist and Job Coaches, experienced professionals work with the consumer and their families to provide whatever the person needs to be successful, from extra training, establishing priorities, to educating at the job site and to building natural supports. We provide vocational rehabilitation and training in the Kankakee County and surrounding areas. By hiring an individual with disabilities, the employer will save money, enhance productivity, and gain access to a largely untapped source of intelligent, qualified job candidates.
The Kankakee County Training Center will:
*Help to find a job the consumer will like and where they will be successful.
*Help the consumer fill out applications and interview with potential employers.
*Develop and maintain knowledge of the abilities, potentials, and performance of each consumer.
*Provide disability awareness assistance to prospective employers.
*Go to work with the consumer when they are first hired and help them learn to do the job.
*Go to work with the consumer less often as they learn to do the job independently.
*Assist in developing natural supports and opportunities for integration of persons served.
*Provide on-site job analysis, consultation, and recommendations for work sites and job modifications.
*Stay in contact to support and encourage the consumer even after they are working successfully by themselves.
Funding is provided through the Illinois Department of Human Services, Division of Rehabilitation Services.
KCTC is an official Employment Network (EN) member of the Ticket to Work and Self- Sufficiency Program for Social Security Administration. If an individual qualifies under this program, KCTC can provide services to help them go to work at no extra cost.
"The highest priority goal for all our adults with disabilities is to enable them to hold regular jobs in the community and thus become productive members of our society."
